Wiliot Closes $30M Funding Round
Startup Wiliot has secured $30 million in funding for its innovative semiconductor technology that utilizes ambient nanowatts of electromagnetic energy from cellular, WiFi, and Bluetooth networks to operate without batteries. The funding round includes notable backers like Amazon, Avery Dennison, Samsung, and previous investors VC Grove Ventures, Norwest Venture Partners, Qualcomm Ventures, and others. The startup, co-headquartered in San Diego and Israel, plans to use the funding to scale up chip production and commercialize its technology, which can measure temperature, location, and air pressure while transmitting data to the cloud. Initial applications are expected in the apparel industry, allowing for tracking and providing services to consumers.
